The Sydney Morning Herald also has extensive listings in the Positions Vacant section of the Wednesday and Saturday editions. Alternatively, search the Sydney Morning Herald online for work at www.mycareer.com.au.
Local newspapers also carry advertisements for part-time and casual work. Try the following resources:
- The Southern Courier

One way to find employment is by enquiring at shops, restaurants and factories. In retail and hospitality jobs, wages are set by industrial awards. The average hourly wage for casual work in these industries is about A$14 - A$16 per hour.
Tax
It is highly advisable to obtain a Tax File Number to avoid paying the highest tax rate. You can apply online for a Tax File Number form at the Australian Tax Office website.
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
In New South Wales, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification is mandatory for any staff involved in the sale, serving and supply of alcohol. Undertaking an RSA course to obtain a certificate ensures that licensees and staff understand their obligations in serving liquor responsibly.
Courses are about 1 - 1.5 days and are offered by these accredited providers.
