Accommodation
Students will be housed in a variety of accommodation styles when travelling, including shared, budget-style accommodation, a few nights camping, single dorm rooms, and shared hotel rooms.

Teaching
Course size is restricted to 36 students allowing greater student participation and a more hands-on approach to learning. Lecturing will be done by professors from The University of New South Wales.

Course Fee
The course fee, which will be given upon application, includes tuition, all accommodation, excursion costs, airport shuttle services, orientation programs, a UNSW student card allowing access to all UNSW facilities, all meals when camping in Kakadu National Park, breakfast in Cairns, and all breakfasts and lunches in Sydney. The program fee does not include any other meals or airfares.

Travel arrangements
A package of international and domestic Australian flights (via Qantas) for each specific course itinerary is administered through STA Travel in the USA and can be booked online at: http://unsw.statravel.com.
These packages can be designed to allow students to spend time at the completion of each course in a host of destinations such as New Zealand or Fiji on their return to the USA for an additional fee.
We strongly advise that students take out travel insurance to cover any medical claims or loss of personal belongings.

Who can apply?
To apply to Summer School, you need to be enrolled at a recognised tertiary institution, and have attained a GPA of 2.8 or equivalent. Students with a slightly lower GPA may still be considered on submission of a supporting statement. Contact us for more information.

How to apply
You should check if your home university has a partner university agreement with UNSW Study Abroad. If it is a partner institution, you will need to apply through your home university's Study Abroad or International Office. If your home university is not a partner institution, you can apply directly to UNSW Study Abroad.
To apply directly through UNSW Study Abroad, we first ask you to send information about yourself and the course you are interested in taking. We will then respond by email to your request with detailed information about your course, and an application form to send us more complete information about yourself and your studies.

What happens next?
Successful applicants will receive a pre-departure package with detailed information about their course syllabus, travel arrangements, what to bring, making tuition payments and other useful information.

Transferring credit back home
All students who complete a UNSW Study Abroad Summer School course are issued with a UNSW transcript. UNSW Study Abroad will provide all documentation to overseas institutions to assist in credit transfer.

Application deadline for 2011
Summer School in 2011 runs from 13 June until 24 July 2011. Applications for 2011 close 16 April 2011. Late applications may be considered subject to the availability of places. If you would like to submit an application after the closing date, contact us to check.
