Internships

Students can enrol in internships at UNSW in the following fields:

- Marketing
- Banking and Finance
- Social Science and Policy
- Media Studies
- Biological and Environmental Sciences

Students who would like to enrol in the internship program enrol in the Semester Program where the internship is weighted at 6UOC. This means that internship students need to be enrolled in a further 18UOC of coursework to make up the required full-time study load.

Placement and Assessment
Internship students are placed in a workplace for two full days each week, and also have additional academic contact hours with their supervisors. Students are assessed on workplace performance, a journal, a final research project, and an exit report. The internship will appear on the official UNSW transcript on completion of the semester's studies.

Who can apply?
Any student enrolled in the Semester Program is eligible to apply for an internship. If you intend to undertake an internship, you will need to have some academic background in the field.

How to apply
Download the Internship application form on the left, and ensure you have attached all the following documents before you send it to Study Abroad:

- A certified copy of your academic transcript
- Your current resume, including information about relevant work or volunteer experience

You will also need to submit a 500-word essay outlining:
- The specific area in which you would like to be placed;
- The skills you are seeking to develop from the internship;
- What you expect to learn, and how this experience will benefit you.

Please also include the details of any particular expertise, interest or experience you have which will help to evaluate your application and determine suitable placements.

Application deadline
You should apply at least two months before the start of semester, and your enrolment in an internship cannot be guaranteed before arrival, as you will need to meet with your supervisor on arrival before your placement can be confirmed.
