Where do I find the application for Study Abroad off-campus housing?
Applications for Study Abroad off-campus housing is not available online. If you are successful in your application to the Semester Program, you will receive a pre-departure package containing an application form for Study Abroad housing.
Can I nominate as roommates friends who are applying through different means?
Yes, it is possible to nominate roommates even if they are applying through other agents or broker groups.
When will I find out where I will be living?
You will be able to find out approximately two weeks after the housing application closing date. We are unable to release information about your housemates due to state privacy laws.
How do I pay my housing fees?
Visit the Study Abroad office to obtain a payment sheet when making a payment.
You can pay by credit card, bank draft or Australian cheque. UNSW Study Abroad only accepts Visa or Mastercard. If you wish to pay by bank draft, please take note of UNSW’s bank details for wiring program and medical insurance payments. Please include your full name/UNSW Student Number with the wire for identification.

Can I pay my housing fees in instalments?
Yes. You can pay in up to four instalments paid monthly.
What should I do if I require repairs to my house?
All repairs must be reported in writing. Email Study Abroad at studyabroad@unsw.edu.auwith details of the required repair.
If the repair is urgent (no electricity, no hot water, blocked toilet), call 9385 3179 during business hours, or 0414 746 222 outside business hours. Do not call this number if the repair is not urgent.
What is provided in Study Abroad's off-campus housing?
Study Abroad provides basic furnishings for your home. It is advisable to check this list if you think something is missing and needs to be replaced, or if you need to organise or purchase items yourself.
Where can I buy sheets and towels?
There is a budget linen store called Best & Less at the Royal Randwick Shopping Centre, a short walk from Coogee and the Kensington campus.
Big W (similar to Wal-Mart), K-Mart and Target stores are located at the Eastgardens Shopping Centre, and Westfield's Shopping Centre at Bondi Junction. Both shopping centres are within short bus rides of Coogee.
Where can I rent electronic appliances not included in my accommodation?
RentaCentre carries a range of whitegoods and electrical items for hire. Phone 9398 9566 or visit their store at 135 Belmore Road, Randwick.
Are personal belongings insured in Study Abroad housing?
No. Your personal items are not insured. It is your responsibility to ensure that your belongings are insured under your travel insurance. Alternatively, you can contact a local Insurance company if you require your belongings to be insured.
What precautions should I take to minimise the risk of fire?
Heaters in bedrooms are an extreme fire hazard and NOT permitted. Contact UNSW Study Abroad for extra bedding (quilts, duvets) if required.
DO NOT, under any circumstances, remove batteries from your smoke detectors. They are there as a legal requirement. If you have a smoke detector that requires attention, contact Study Abroad on 9385 3179.
