Health Services
All students on an international student visa (except those on Norwegian or Swedish passports) are required to have medical insurance cover for the duration of their stay. UNSW Study Abroad automatically organises each student’s insurance through the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC Worldcare) scheme. Norwegian and Swedish students are exempt from purchasing medical insurance due to a reciprocal agreement between their countries and Australia.
Students receive basic hospital and medical cover from their compulsory medical insurance scheme. The Overseas Student Health Cover does not include physiotherapy, optical care, dental care or ambulance service. Additional medical insurance is advisable if students wish to be covered for these expenses. Additional insurance is also strongly advisable for students considering travel outside of Australia.
UNSW’s Kensington campus health facilities include a general medical practice, dentist, optometry clinic, and physiotherapy service. The Prince of Wales Hospital is located one block away from the Kensington campus. |

The Unit’s team of professional Disability and Equity Officers provides a range of services, support and advice to help students overcome barriers that may emerge from a student’s personal experience, such as having a disability, difficult social circumstances, geographic isolation, English language difficulty, and more.
